New Features on Graduate Junction

A while ago I posted about a new site for graduate research students - Graduate Junction. In response to user comments they've now added a new group feature, and a conference diary and careers advice section is in the pipeline. Check it out here.

I wonder what the advantage is of using Graduate Junction over similar websites that mix in graduate students with faculty (i.e. Academia.edu)?

I think they serve different purposes. I hadn't seen academia.edu until just not so I'm not familiar with all its features, but from what I can tell it is mainly an area for academics to have a webpage that is easy to set up. Graduate Junction is designed to make communication between graduate students in different departments easier. There's no reason not to have a presence on both!
